Letter from Tom Corbett, Former Governor

Columbia Borough has earned recognition by the Smithsonian Magazine as a top U.S. town for visitors, being named as one of  “The 20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2014” This recognition is evidence that the Economic Development Strategic Plan developed by a group of residents, business and organizational leaders, and elected officials is working. All of Columbia is working hard to revitalize itself and all Columbia residents should be proud of their achievements.

Columbia Borough attracts visitors, being home to the Turkey Hill Experience, National Watch & Clock Collectors Museum, Wright’ Ferry Mansion and the many Victorian era buildings in the Historic District.

Columbia is a visitor’s paradise to antique and art aficionados with the many antique shops and art studios in historic former business buildings and homes. Visitors can walk to these places by parking in the lot next to the Historic Columbia Market House and stop at several excellent places for lunch.

Columbia Borough has revitalized its River Park and is in the process of expanding the park with a Park and Trail Services Building, increased recreational opportunities and linking to the Northwest Susquehanna River Trail, a trail beginning in Columbia River Park and traveling north to Conoy Township.

Visitors can stop at the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center just off  the West Bound Route 30 exit on Linden Street near the Turkey Hill Experience for information on the many offerings Columbia has to offer. Columbia Borough is open for business this year and we welcome you to visit our great town.
