The 3 “E” Task Force
The 3 “E” Task Force (Education and Employment for Everyone) is a temporary focus group charged with the task of developing strategies that will significantly reduce the poverty rate in Columbia Borough through education and employment. Real people and families make up that poverty rate, and reaching those people with hope, possibility, and practical advice - unique to the obstacles that stand in the way of their financial goals - is our goal. Because a lack of education and meaningful employment are two main reasons for poverty,
STRATEGIES
- Work with the CBSD, private schools, and homeschoolers to collaborate in the development of ways that will aid in increasing the graduation rate.
- Encourage businesses in our community to develop and expand apprenticeship programs as well as other incentives for their employees.
- Connect interested individuals with skill development and/or higher education.
- Utilize resources in the Borough such as affordable childcare, medical and dental care, and transportation.
Successful strategies will result in the poverty level of Columbia being reduced, and our citizens achieving their dreams for themselves and their families.
